November 2017 -- If you're shopping in Danville, KY, stop by the McDowell House Museum Gift Shop, also known as The Gift Shop at Constitution Square. They have some of my quilts for sale. Above are two, Frozen and Peachy Keen (I'm sure you can tell which is which!). The shop is located at 134 S. Second Street, adjacent to the Constitution Square Historic Site.
October 2017 -- Andover is releasing the Uptown collection next month. I updated my Citrus Twist pattern with it and love the result. The pattern is quite flexible; once you make the blocks, you can create several designs depending on the orientation of the blocks. Two variations are shown above. It has instructions for two quilt sizes. The pattern is available from Craftsy and PatternSpot.
October 2017 -- Halloween is creeping up! Quilting Treasures has a wonderful collection, Queen of We'en, celebrating this fun holiday. If you decorate for Halloween, check out my table runner design. You can easily make the runner reversible, as I did, using the large image of the Queen herself and the smaller panel images to make a pieced backing. The pattern is in the Oct/Nov issue of McCall's Quick Quilts.
Sept 2017 -- If you love batiks, check out Connecting Threads' Tradewinds fabrics, part of their Batik Paradise collection. I came up with this design, Coxey's Camp, to show them off. The pattern, available from Connecting Threads, includes instructions for the table runner shown above and for a bed size quilt. The quilt is constructed in vertical rows vs blocks, simplifying the process. Fabric and pattern are available from Connecting Threads.
September 2017 -- Monkey Wrench and Spool and Bobbin blocks combine to make this design, so the idea of naming it Spools and Wrenches came pretty quickly. It's also appropriate considering all those thread spools in the border fabric, part of the Emma and Myrtle collection by Connecting Threads. (As you can guess, the Spool and Bobbin block also inspired my business name.) Fabric and pattern available from Connecting Threads.
August 2017 -- The Just Add Sugar collection (such a great name!) from Riley Blake Designs is used in this quilt. I love its playfulness, and the design sews up easily and quickly. This would be a great project for a beginning quilter. The quilt is featured in the October/November 2017 issue of McCall's Quick Quilts. You can purchase a print or digital copy of the magazine from Quilt and Sew Shop. Photo by McCall's.
August 2017 -- This design, Nana's Picnic Quilt, is so easy to make! I just updated the pattern, illustrating it in Henry Glass fabrics. The quilt at left above is shown in their Nana Mae II collection. (Love that name!) It's the perfect collection for a baby or picnic quilt. The quilt at right is illustrated in their Folio Basics collection; I suppose this color way appealed to me since I'm beginning to think of approaching fall. The pattern is available through Craftsy or PatternSpot.
July 2017 -- Connecting Threads is offering my Southern Belle pattern, illustrated with their Belle Reverie collection. If you'd like to reproduce the quilt as illustrated in the pattern and shown above, you can buy a kit, which includes the fabrics as well as the pattern; you'll then be ready to start making this beautiful quilt! Photos by Connecting Threads.
July 2017 -- This wall hanging was made as a gift to a surgeon in appreciation for the care the person received from him and his staff. The center panel, from beautifulquiltfabric.net, didn't need a lot of embellishment, so a simple border design complemented it well. The corner quotes are from Annie's Catalog.
June 2017 -- It may not be too early to make plans to attend the Quilt and Fiber Extravanga hosted by the Berea (KY) Arts Council. As part of that celebration, the Kentucky Artisan Center is now exhibiting some of my quilts. The Extravanga is scheduled for July 28-29. If you love quilts, you'll have a great time. June 2017 -- Picket Corner is featured in the August/September 2017 issue of McCall's Quick Quilts. It is indeed a quick quilt to make. The fabrics (so rich and beautiful!) are from the Tattooed by Libs Elliott and Pearl Bracelets by Lizzy House collections by Andover Fabrics. I included a closeup shot of the quilt so you could better see the fabrics and to also show you the quilt stitching design; it's Modern Squares by Meadowlyon. I thought it complemented the quilt well. Photographs by McCall's.
May 2017 -- Double Star has been updated in Connecting Threads' Folk Blooms, shown above. The pattern and fabric are available from Connecting Threads as a kit or you can buy just the pattern from Connecting Threads or Craftsy. I quilted this quilt in the Curly Weave design by Willow Leaf Studio; I absolutely love the texture it gives the quilt.
