2017 May blog image

May 2017 - Such a busy month! Graduation, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, etc. I'm pretty sure quilters have been busy, as a quilt is a quite personal and meaningful gift to celebrate such occasions. Above are two graduation gifts I enjoyed making. At left is a t-shirt quilt to commemorate high school days. At right is a quilt made from one of my patterns, Oh! The Possibilities. Appropriate, don’t you think?

English Coverlet

March 2017 -- An English Coverlet features fabric from Connecting Threads' new Country Inn collection. I kept imagining the quilt on a bed in an English cottage, thus its name. The pattern features instructions for two design variations. Fabric and pattern available from Connecting Threads.

Seven Sisters

March 2017 -- McCall's Quilting's May/June issue features this design. The fabric (so exquisite!) is from the Ombre Scroll collection by Quilting Treasures. If you'd like to make the quilt as shown, McCall's has made it easy by offering the pattern and fabric in a kit. Photo by McCall's Quilting.

Interlocking Four Patch

February 2017 -- Connecting Threads is featuring my Interlocking Four-Patch design in its new catalog. Their Batik Paradise collection is so beautiful and so perfect for this design. You can purchase a kit or just the pattern from Connecting Threads.

February 2017 -- I just added an update of a design I did a few years ago to my Craftsy page. It was such fun coloring it with fabrics from Andover. The quilt above left has fabrics from their Printmaking collection. Brushline, a collection to be released next month, is used in the quilt shown above right. The pattern, available from Craftsy, has instructions for two quilt sizes.

quilt in RJR batiks

January 2017 -- I designed Pinwheel Play a few years ago as a Halloween-themed wall hanging/quilt. This is an updated design, using fewer fabrics and a simplified piecing method. The pattern, illustrated in the Malam Batiks Batiks collection by RJR, is available from Craftsy.

Starburst KO

January 2017 -- Starburst is my latest design featured by Connecting Threads. The fabrics are from their Firenze collection. The fabrics are perfect for the classic look of this design. Fabrics and pattern available from Connecting Threads. Photo by Connecting Threads.

Diamond Facets style 2

November 2016 - This quilt is made with fabrics from Hoffman California's gorgeous Bali Batiks. It's featured in McCall's Quilting Jan/Feb 2017 issue. Photo by McCall's Quilting.

Garden MazeOctober 2016 -- Garden Maze is done up in Connecting Thread's Winter Rhapsody collection above left. I love the way the stripes connect to create the background diamonds. Pattern and fabrics are available from Connecting Threads. The quilt at right is a variation of the design commissioned as a special birthday gift. The use of bolder, more saturated color ways results in a more contemporary look.

September 2016 -- McCall's Quick Quilts features this quilt in their Oct/Nov 2016 issue. I love the cheery, playful feel of the fabrics, from the Acorn Park collection by Connecting Threads. Photo by McCall's Quick Quilts.

My Cottage blog pic

August 2016 -- Connecting Threads' August catalog features two of my designs. I designed lap quilt/wall hanging pictured at left above to evoke the look of a bulletin board. I named it Life's Bessings because that's what it brought to mind--people important to us, earth's bounty and meaningful events. Buy fabric and pattern here. To the right above is a closeup of My Cottage Quilt. An image of the full quilt can be seen in my photo gallery; the fabric and pattern are available here. Photos by Connecting Threads.

Daily Grind flat 2

August 2016 - Quilting Treasures manufactures beautiful fabrics. Their Daily Grind collection was so popular that it's being reissued next month. I thought it perfect for this design. The quilt is featured in the Sept/Oct 2016 issue of Quiltmaker.Photo by Quiltmaker.
