July 2016 - If you love quilts. visit Berea, KY, July 29-30 to attend Quilt Extravaganza. If you do attend, come by the Kentucky Artisan Center. I'll be there, talking about how you can change the look of a quilt by manipulating color value, block placement and/or block orientation. Above is an example; all quilts use the same blocks. The design differences are a result of how the blocks are placed/oriented. The pattern used to make these quilts, Oh! The Possibilites, is available from Connecting Threads.
June 2016 - The July/August 2016 issue of Quiltmaker features this design. The block used, World's Fair Puzzle, has been around a while but doesn't seem to be very well known. Beautiful tonals from Northcott Studio add movement and texture. Photo by Quiltmaker.
May 2016 - Bob and I will be exhibiting at Art on the Parish Green art show next month. The show is June 11-12 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, located at 11th and East Main in New Albany, Indiana. We're one of the inside booths, so don't miss us! Visit www.artontheparishgreen.org for more info.
April 2016 - Quiltmaker features this bed runner in the May/June 2016 issue. Using a bed runner is a quick easy way to update the look of a bedroom, especially if you like to change the decor with the seasons/holidays. Fabrics are from the Sea Holly collection by Michael Miller. Photo by Quiltmaker.
March 2016 - Connecting Threads has released Patriotic Minis, a perfect collection for this quilt. I combined the Birds and Star block, shown above left, with the Blueberry Pie block (isn't that a great block name?) to create the Tribute to Patriots design, shown above right. Fabric and pattern available at www.connectingthreads.com.
February 2016 - Carvin' Artist Bob Gibson (my husband) and I are gearing up for this year's KY Crafted: The Market. It's only three weeks away! Join us in Lexington to see my quilts and Bob's beautiful carvings and duck calls. There'll be lots of great art exhibited by our talented Kentucky artisans for you to enjoy--and buy! Get more info at www.artscouncil.ky.gov.
December 2015 - This is one of my latest designs for Connecting Threads. It features fabric panels evoking the look of redwork; you can leave the panels as is in the quilt, or actually embroider the panels. I love the simplicity of this design. Pattern and fabrics available at www.connectingthreads.com. Photo by Connecting Threads
October 2015 - Bob (my husband, Carvin' Artist Bob Gibson) and I are getting ready for the Oldham Arts on City Place art show. This is an indoor show, held November 14-15 in LaGrange, Kentucky. I'll have several quilts on display and Bob will be displaying decoys, duck calls and bottle stoppers. He may also be demonstrating. Come out to visit us, see some great art from local and national artists and do some Christmas shopping.
September 2015 -- Elizabeth's Studio has several fabric collections that include fabric panels. These panels are great to build themed quilts around, as shown in the above images. The Sawtooth 16-Patch quilt block is combined with panels to create this simple and easy design. It's a great way to showcase these beautiful fabrics. Elizabeth's has other collections that work in this design; visit their site to see what you can come up with. The pattern is available from Craftsy.
September 2015 - Connecting Threads' Funky Flowers collection is perfect for this Patience Corners design. Although the quilt is large (84" x 84"), it comes together quickly and is easy to make. The large squares show off the fun fabrics well. Pattern is available from Connecting Threads. Photo by Connecting Threads.
June 2015 - This is such a cheery quilt. The tropical-feeling fabrics are from the Island Hopping collection by Connecting Threads. One rationale for the pattern's name is that the blocks can be "twisted" to form several design variations. Fabric and pattern available through Connecting Threads.
April 2015 - It seems I work in blues and purples a lot lately. These two designs are featured in Connecting Threads' latest catalog. The pattern for Oh! The Possibilites, pictured above left, is versatile; several design options are included. Tranquil Dreams, above right, is a sweet simple design perfect for a baby quilt. Photos by Connecting Threads.
